The best analogy for him is he's a beaten dog, kicked down by the world. He will snap at anyone who gets close to him, but once someone offers him a kindness, he becomes that person's loyal protector. He shows this time and time again. He’s introduced as a lost man, roaming Canada, and yet a young girl took a chance on him. Despite feeling like an animal, lost in the world, he made it his mission to protect her and keep her safe. He sacrificed himself to ensure she lived without the certainty that he would survive too. She was the first person to see past his walls, and therefore she earned his loyalty which comes with his protection.

And this happens multiple times during his story arc. His loyalty is unmatched, even when the person is drawn askew from their path which can be seen in XMEN DOFP, with Charles, or even with Jean Grey in The Last Stand. His loyalty partly stems from wishing that someone would grant him the same -- that someone would look past all the broken pieces, and the fortress he's built around himself and still see a man worth something. It's a constant battle within himself and while this is mainly about his loyalty to others, some of his strongest qualities are branched out from this.

It also stems from the fact that he's seen too many good people die. He's been part of too many wars. He is a soldier at heart, and one of the most defining traits of a good soldier is loyalty.

✦Animalistic
Logan is a feral mutant. That means his mutation -- his heightened senses, regenerative abilities, and claws -- make him biologically more animal than man in certain situations. But it's not just about the physical but it also ties into how he processes the world. His emotions are always strong, especially to outside stimuli and therefore, he can easily let himself get swept up in them. These feral tendencies drive him in ways he doesn’t always understand completely. He tends to react first. He fights harder, and can sense danger before it strikes. He picks up on fear, aggression, lust, and lies. Sometimes through logic, but most of the time through scent, tone, and movement.

We are shown his animalistic side countless times, from being able to detect threats through sound or smell alone. But beyond that, when he loses himself a little in his fights; him versus Victor Creed (both in Origins and X1). Even in Logan (2017). He struggles to control his urges. And unfortunately, most of the time that means the urge to hurt and be hurt. Not in a sadistic sense but in the way a wild animal protects and defends its territory. There will always be a push and pull inside of Logan, between the man and the animal, because he's not afraid of the pain, or even dying. He's afraid to lose control.

✦Irascible (Violent Temper)

While on the outside Logan often appears serious or brooding, on the inside he always feels anger. It's repressed, but it comes from a lot of things. The anger and rage isn't just surface level, but visceral. And once more can also be tied back to his mutation. But it's also result of the life he's lived. From the very first moment his mutation activated, and his claws came out, he saw blood. When his temper finally gets the best of him, he usually leaves behind a mess of things.

He becomes a force to be reckoned with. Because up until this point in his life, most of it has been violence and pain. Added with his other negative traits and it's a volatile mix at times. Because there are moments when he doesn't think. He reacts. We see that in X2, when the intruders infiltrate the mansion. He immediately reacts, his anger echoing in a roar as he kills a soldier right in front of Bobby. And it takes him a moment to come back to reality -- showing how overpowering the anger truly is. Having endured decades of war, betrayal, and death have also made him use his temper and anger as a mask for deeper emotions.

✦Self Destructive (Lack of Self Preservation).

Logan has walked through life, jumping headfirst into things that would get any ordinary man killed. From the very beginning, we see him fight in countless wars, as if searching for purpose -- for a reason as to why he heals from every wound. But beyond that, it almost seems like he doesn't just do it for a sense of purpose, but almost as a subconscious form of self punishment. Logan's character is introduced in a dingy bar, fighting in a cage. Even then, when his past eluded him, we see him fighting. For the sake of fighting. For the sake of feeling pain and returning it.

His lack of self-preservation stems from a deep sense of guilt and trauma. Guilt from the fact that he's been chosen to live a life that seemingly has no end, while good men die right and left. And trauma from everything he's been put through -- from killing his father at a young age, to having molten metal grafted to his bones. Even when he uses this trait for the sake of saving someone (self sacrificing), it's still driven by a notion that others' lives are worth more. More than his pain.

Powers and Abilities: Uncharted Regenerative Capabilities. Enhanced senses which include smell, eyesight and hearing. He has enhanced strength, though it's not super powered, he is much stronger than a regular human. Has adamantium grafted throughout his entire skeleton, including the three bone claws on each hand.

Inventory: Pack of cigars, lighter

Samples:

Sample 1

Sample 2

comments

(Let’s be honest the X-Men timelines are ass.)
Character History: Wiki
Canon Abilities: Logan is a mutant in the feral category, with uncharted regenerative healing. His feral mutation has granted him three bone claws on each of his hands (that appear between his knuckles). Besides that, he has enhanced smell, eyesight and hearing. His smell allows him to recognize people and things by it alone and is often compared to that of a bear's. Next is his hearing, which allows him to pick up sounds no ordinary human can. He could hear a water droplet in a room next to his. And his eyesight, is enhanced as well, allowing him to clearly distinguish things in the dark.

Because of his uncharted healing, he was submitted to an experiment in which adamantium (a metal said to be indestructible) was grafted into his whole skeleton, including his claws. At this point in canon though, he lost his metal claws, and sports his bone ones despite still having the adamantium in the rest of his body.

Inventory:
1. Small olive and brown leather duffel bag with a few misc travel items because it’s what he had on the plane from where he was taken in his canon point.
2. Brown trucker jacket.
3. His leather covered lighter with a Japanese engraving given to him by Yukio.

🦋 Personality

Option 1:

1. Has your character always believed in magic? Do they have something influencing their perspective on the supernatural/metaphysical/spiritual from their past? How do they feel about magic?

No, he has not believed in magic. The closest thing to magic he would believe are mutant powers that resemble magic, such as telekinesis or Storm's weather manipulation powers. But the actual subject of magic existing hasn't crossed his mind as he's spent most of his life surviving. I think, because the fact that mutations are so vastly different in terms of what they can do and their overall power level, the thought of magic has just never crossed his mind. Even if he did witness something "magical", he'd attribute it to a mutation. While she's not part of X-Men timeline from where this Logan is from, an example of this would be Wanda. She's a mutant, whose mutation is basically being a magical being.

Logan is going to be very skeptical when it comes to witnessing magic. But not skeptical in like a scientific way, but more so as in "shit is crazy", type of mentality. But once he comes to terms with it and the fact it does exist and it's what brought him to this plane of reality, he'll probably grow more introspective and question certain events, and maybe question at what point a mutation power is just power or if it could be classified as some sort magic.

2. What song would a siren sing to your character to lure them closer? Why?

Simple Man by Lynard Skynard. The song speaks about being a simple man, as though a mother is giving her son advice. She tells him to live a normal life, filled with love despite the troubles the world brings. To not let the riches of the world stray his eye, and to keep his soul.

This is one of Logan’s favorite songs, because it fills him with a yearning, knowing that he’s anything but simple. Life has not been kind to him, and sometimes he does feel like his soul is tainted. Perhaps, it’s because he wishes he could have been able to follow the advice the song speaks about. He wishes he could fall in the spectrum of normal -- to love and understand, to keep his soul, to be good and not let the darkness of the world overcome him.

Maybe it's also that part of him wishes he remembered his mother. Would she have told him similar words? Was she loving and doting like almost any mother would be? The song brings a sense of longing for something he hasn't been able to know, and so it would definitely lure him if there were sirens singing this song.

3. If you'd like pixies to change one event in your character's life, what would it be and why?
While there are several events that have changed Logan's life drastically, from the grafting of adamantium into his bones, to joining Team X, I believe both those events made Logan a better man. It set him on a course that yes, led him to unimaginable pain, but showed him that he indeed had a soul. That he was still human beneath the animal. However, the event that would probably be for the best to change, would be Logan killing Jean at the end of The Last Stand. The reasoning behind this is because, Logan went into that fight knowing that one way or another, he had to stop Jean, who at the time he believed to be in love with. By killing her, he's led himself to believe that every hard decision is going to fall on his shoulders. Not only that, but others who perceive him as cold hearted, or animalistic have started to rely on him for the difficult tasks.

But beyond that, this event only solidified in his mind that he brings nothing but pain and misery to those around him. Despite the fact that Jean asked for him to stop her, he's led himself to believe that he's got some sort of curse on him. And while up until this canon point he hasn't said it, he does say in Logan, "Bad shit happens to those I care about."

By changing this event, whether it's helping Jean Grey control the phoenix, or shifting the responsibility to someone else, it probably would ease a little bit of that burden that Logan carries.

4. What is your character's most outstanding personality trait, and why?

His loyalty. Despite how he appears to the outside world – a bitter, unforgiving man – he’s quite loyal to a fault. The best analogy I can use for him is a beaten dog, kicked down by the world.

His loyalty partly stems from wishing that someone would grant him the same loyalty -- that someone would look past all the broken pieces, and the fortress he's built around himself and still see a man worth something.

5. Your character gets to return home, but when they do they learn that they've been gone for hundreds of years. How do they react?

Logan would probably feel guilty from the getco. Guilty that he spent so much time wallowing in his own misery, and not allowing himself to be close to those he cared about. And not to mention the sense of survivors guilt. But the thing is, despite the wave of guilt that would wash over him, part of him knows that this is most likely his fate. So besides that, there's a sense of desolation. Because to him, this was always bound to happen. Whether it be fifty or a hundred years, he's just meant to walk the earth alone. He doesn't age like others do, and so chances are he will outlive all his loved ones regardless.

In the end though, he'd probably go through a heavy period of anger and a feeling of not being able to do anything about. Because in his mind, he should have been there, he should have been able to say goodbye.

🦋 Fae Court

List your top three choices for your characters adoptive court. The mods will choose the one out of those three options that seems the most fitting based on your app.

Winter: Cold, Irritable, Bitter, Sensitive

Autumn: Bullheaded, Volatile, Nostalgic, Introspective

Dawn: Mean, Aggressive, Passionate, Intuitive

Ability: Do you want your character to gain the ability of their court?
3) Yes, but they either have no ability of their own, or they refuse to trade theirs away; they will buy their court's ability on credit.

🦋 RP Samples

TDM
Other TDM.

comments
