Personality:

Loyalty.  Despite how he appears to the outside world – a bitter, unforgiving man – he’s quite loyal to a fault. The best analogy for him is he's a beaten dog, kicked down by the world. He will snap at anyone who gets close to him, but once someone offers him a kindness, he becomes that person's loyal protector. He shows this time and time again. He’s introduced as a lost man, roaming Canada, and yet a young girl took a chance on him. Despite feeling like an animal, lost in the world, he made it his mission to protect her and keep her safe. He sacrificed himself to ensure she lived without the certainty that he would survive too. She was the first person to see past his walls, and therefore she earned his loyalty which comes with his protection.

And this happens multiple times during his story arc. His loyalty is unmatched, even when the person is drawn askew from their path which can be seen in XMEN DOFP, with Charles, or even with Jean Grey in The Last Stand. His loyalty partly stems from wishing that someone would grant him the same -- that someone would look past all the broken pieces, and the fortress he's built around himself and still see a man worth something. It's a constant battle within himself and while this is mainly about his loyalty to others, some of his strongest qualities are branched out from this.

It also stems from the fact that he's seen too many good people die. He's been part of too many wars. He is a soldier at heart, and one of the most defining traits of a good soldier is loyalty.

Animalistic
Logan is a feral mutant. That means his mutation -- his heightened senses, regenerative abilities, and claws -- make him biologically more animal than man in certain situations. But it's not just about the physical but it also ties into how he processes the world. His emotions are always strong, especially to outside stimuli and therefore, he can easily let himself get swept up in them. These feral tendencies drive him in ways he doesn’t always understand completely. He tends to react first. He fights harder, and can sense danger before it strikes. He picks up on fear, aggression, lust, and lies. Sometimes through logic, but most of the time through scent, tone, and movement.

We are shown his animalistic side countless times, from being able to detect threats through sound or smell alone. But beyond that, when he loses himself a little in his fights; him versus Victor Creed (both in Origins and X1). Even in Logan (2017). He struggles to control his urges. And unfortunately, most of the time that means the urge to hurt and be hurt. Not in a sadistic sense but in the way a wild animal protects and defends its territory. There will always be a push and pull inside of Logan, between the man and the animal, because he's not afraid of the pain, or even dying. He's afraid to lose control.

Irascible (Violent Temper)

While on the outside Logan often appears serious or brooding, on the inside he always feels anger. It's repressed, but it comes from a lot of things. The anger and rage isn't just surface level, but visceral. And once more can also be tied back to his mutation. But it's also result of the life he's lived. From the very first moment his mutation activated, and his claws came out, he saw blood. When his temper finally gets the best of him, he usually leaves behind a mess of things.

He becomes a force to be reckoned with. Because up until this point in his life, most of it has been violence and pain. Added with his other negative traits and it's a volatile mix at times. Because there are moments when he doesn't think. He reacts. We see that in X2, when the intruders infiltrate the mansion. He immediately reacts, his anger echoing in a roar as he kills a soldier right in front of Bobby. And it takes him a moment to come back to reality -- showing how overpowering the anger truly is. Having endured decades of war, betrayal, and death have also made him use his temper and anger as a mask for deeper emotions.

Self Destructive (Lack of Self Preservation).
Logan has walked through life, jumping headfirst into things that would get any ordinary man killed. From the very beginning, we see him fight in countless wars, as if searching for purpose -- for a reason as to why he heals from every wound. But beyond that, it almost seems like he doesn't just do it for a sense of purpose, but almost as a subconscious form of self punishment. Logan's character is introduced in a dingy bar, fighting in a cage. Even then, when his past eluded him, we see him fighting. For the sake of fighting. For the sake of feeling pain and returning it.

His lack of self-preservation stems from a deep sense of guilt and trauma. Guilt from the fact that he's been chosen to live a life that seemingly has no end, while good men die right and left. And trauma from everything he's been put through -- from killing his father at a young age, to having molten metal grafted to his bones. Even when he uses this trait for the sake of saving someone (self sacrificing), it's still driven by a notion that others' lives are worth more. More than his pain.

Powers and Abilities: Uncharted Regenerative Capabilities. Enhanced senses which include smell, eyesight and hearing. He has enhanced strength, though it's not super powered, he is much stronger than a regular human. Has adamantium grafted throughout his entire skeleton, including the three bone claws on each hand.
